Alexis Northrop, Owner and Organizer
Why did I decide to start a move-in organization business?
Because I've been exactly where you are right now. I have moved internationally, interstate, and just across town. I know that moment of finally being in your new place but unable to enjoy it because there are boxes and chaos everywhere you look. I've been there with three small children needing my attention to help settle them into their new surroundings while I was trying to get out from under those boxes. I know how overwhelming it feels.
With each move, I have learned so much. I've learned how important it is to set up new spaces so they make daily living easier. I've learned what a relief it is when all items are categorized and put away together. I've learned how future stress can be avoided if the new home is organized properly from the very beginning. I've learned that I love the process of setting up a kitchen, a room, or a closet.
Order makes sense to me. I am excited to help bring this sense of order and calm into your new space!

Settled and Sorted was a life saver for me! We moved very quickly, five weeks before the start of a new school year, so we didn’t have the opportunity to organize our home for a corporate move. The packers came and packed EVERYTHING! When they unloaded, I was completely overwhelmed at the sheer volume of boxes. I had little idea what we had, or for that matter what we needed. All I knew was that I needed help! Alexis arrived and her calm demeanor was instantly reassuring. We decided, based on the amount of time I had with her, the kitchen would be the most important room to tackle.
Our kitchen was piled high with boxes. We have far less storage in our new home than we did in our old home. I had no idea how it was all going to work.
She worked tirelessly, with lots of interruptions and questions from my children with a smile on her face, getting our stuff sorted. I said to her at one point, when things were being unpacked and sorted into categories, “This is where I give up, and why I am never as organized as I want to be”. Before I knew it there were categorized piles to go through together, to do the purging I did not do on the front end. We purged four boxes of unneeded stuff, and then she got to work devising a system for what we were keeping. She asked great questions about how our family operates, and what is sustainable for us.
There were roadblocks along the way (our shelves were not adjustable) where Alexis was able to pivot and find a different solution that would work for my family. She found a home for everything, and a home that made sense, not just a home behind a cabinet door to be hidden. She even, reluctantly, allowed me to have a ‘junk’ drawer, however, I agreed to call it an “everything” drawer. She embraced my 8 year old’s love of baking and made space for the child friendly instruments, while at the same time finding safe homes for my crystal. Her systems allowed me to have both my everyday and my special occasion items accessible.
My only regret in having Settled and Sorted settle my kitchen, was that I didn’t have the time to have her do the entire house. Alexis is absolutely amazing. She has a great eye and tons of patience. She will leave you settled, sorted and serene in your new home.

I have one regret in hiring Settled and Sorted…I only hired Alexis for one room! I thought if she got the kitchen settled and sorted, we could do the rest in time. I have one regret in hiring Settled and Sorted…I only hired Alexis for one room! I thought if she got the kitchen settled and sorted, we could do the rest in time. Living, working, parenting, and trying to get settled proved to be harder than I thought. A month after Alexis worked wonders on my kitchen I knew I needed her back. This assignment was harder. It was all of the open boxes in the space we deemed “we don’t know what to do with it yet” and the office, with years (decades) of papers and pictures. Alexis went through it all. She helped me donate things we no longer needed and came up with storage solutions that provided me with a calm room upon entry to our home. I can finally work in my “she shed” also known as my office.
I walk into this home calmer and more serene than I have into any home we’ve owned, thanks to Settled and Sorted!!

Alexis is outstanding! We recently moved with a toddler from a small Manhattan apartment to a house in CT, and Alexis came the day after our move and got our kitchen completely set up and gave us great advice on the rest of our home! Alexis was amazing and I will never move without using her or a service like hers. In one day my kitchen became a totally usable and organized space with no boxes in sight. On day 2 the same was true for my bathrooms as well as getting all the boxes empty. Moving is hard enough on the front end but getting Settled and Sorted
